The lamp is only 2.5 inches in diameter at the base so it is very small and doesn't take up much room / space. The shade is 5 inches across. It stands 12 inches tall / high which is nice because it projects light well without being too diffuse. It takes a standard (CFL) light bulb or an energy efficient CFL bulb.
